How do I know when it's time to replace my old garage door?
Garage doors can often last for decades when they are properly maintained. In addition to routine maintenance, the build materials, quality of installation and total amount of use can also impact the overall lifespan of your door. If the door is relatively new and only requires minor repairs (e.g. replacing a broken spring), then having a professional technician repair the garage door may be the most cost-effective solution.
However as the garage door ages, wear and tear can accumulate and eventually lead to further repairs and costs. Cosmetic damage, functional impairments (such as the door not opening or closing properly), decreasing energy efficiency and even safety issues may arise. In such cases it may be worth considering replacing your garage door entirely. Most models available today come equipped with more modern features and customization options than existed in the past making them an excellent investment for your home.
